university of saskatchewan

I was approached on the idea of a logo design for the University of Saskatchewan based off a sketch I posted of their Huskie logo.

It was initially seen as a project to support the Indigenous athlete council that had formed that year as a celebration of community.

As I worked on the design and sent in edits to the University, word started to spread amongst the sports teams and colleges throughout the campus that a revamped Indigenous logo was in the works.

This buzz eventually made its way to some important meetings within the University.

A representative who attended the meetings later shared with me that the University, established in 1907, has only trademarked three logos throughout its history due to the lengthy process involved. I was truly honored to have my artwork placed on that prestigious list.

I am incredibly grateful to the student athletes who took the time to recognize and mention my initial drawing to the University. Their voices were heard, and as a result, revised my original work with a deeper sense of community. The final version carries my vision, along with a energy that connects us all.
